University of Dodoma Academic Jobs August 2012 The University of Dodoma invites


The University of Dodoma invites applications from suitably qualified Tanzanians to fill the following academic positions.

1. POSITION: Professor - PUTS 10 (2 Positions)  
Required qualifications
(a) Holders of a PhD Degree from recognized institutions.
(b) At least three years working experience in a similar position in a reputable organization/institution.
(c) He/She must have at least 20 cumulative points.

Duties and responsibilities
(i) To teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
(ii) To supervise research, theses and dissertation of postgraduate students.
(iii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students
(iv) To conduct research, consultancy and public service
(v) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

2. POSITION: Associate Professor: PUTS 8-9 (1 Position)

Required qualifications
(a) Holders of a PhD Degree from recognized institutions
(b) At least three years working experience in a similar position in a reputable organization/institution.
(c) He/She must also have at least 2 papers from refereed international journals and at least 13 cumulative points.
(d) He/she must have at least 7 points since last promotion of which at least 6 must be obtained from refereed journals and at least 1 point from teaching. At least 70% of the publications must be from refereed journal papers; 50% of points from either single authored papers or from co-authored papers.

Duties and responsibilities
(i) To teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
(ii) To supervise research, theses and dissertation of postgraduate students.
(iii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students
(iv) To conduct research, consultancy and public service

(v) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

3. POSITION: Senior Lecturer: PUTS 6-7 (2 Positions) 
Required qualifications
(a) Holders of a PhD Degree from recognized institutions.
(b) At least three years working experience in a similar position in a reputable organization/institution.
(c) He/she must have at least 7 points since last promotion of which at least 6 must be obtained from refereed journals and at least 1 point from teaching. At least 70% of the publications must be from refereed journals. 50% of the points must be from either single authored papers OR from co-authored papers.

Duties and responsibilities:
(i) To teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
(ii) To supervise research, theses and dissertation of postgraduate students.
(iii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students
(iv) To conduct research, consultancy and public service
(v) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

4. POSITION: Lecturer: PUTS 4-5 ( 5 Positions)
 
Required qualifications
(i) Holders of a PhD Degree from recognized institutions
(ii) He/she must have at least 4 points since last promotion of which at least 2 must be obtained from refereed journals and at least 1 point from teaching.

Duties and responsibilities
(i) To teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses
(ii) To supervise research, theses and dissertation of postgraduate students.
(iii) To supervise practical training of undergraduate students
(iv) To conduct research, consultancy and public service
(v) To perform any other duties assigned to him/her from time to time.

Required qualifications
(a) Holders of Masters Degree with a GPA of 4.0 and above plus at least an Upper Second Bachelor Degree with a GPA of 3.8 and above for classified degrees and for unclassified degree an overall of B grade or above.

(b) For Science based (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science, ICT, Library

Science, Medicine, Nursing); Law and Information Studies fields’ applicants with good Masters Degrees with a GPA of 4.0 and above plus at least an Upper Second Bachelors Degree with a GPA of 3.5 may be considered.

(c) Holders of Masters Degrees by Research must have Bachelors degree with a GPA of 3.8 and above for classified degrees and for unclassified degrees an overall of B grade or above.

(d) Both Masters and Bachelors degrees must be obtained from recognized institutions.
